CRY FUNNY HAPPY seizes the occasion of a 30th birthday party to reunite several friends from college. Like the smart yet barely self-assured characters it paints, the film is set in an absolutely contemporary New York City in the throws of a second coming-of-age. Wes (Michael Traynor), a corrosively smart guy, is the birthday boy who is finally settling down with his new live-in girlfriend Sophie (Kellee Stewart). His buddy Lenny (Tif Luckenbill) brings his long-term girlfriend Ally (Amy Redford) who earlier that day returned from a long stay in Paris. Another friend Dylan (David Robinette) shows up with a non-English speaking woman Naima (Marjan Neshat) whom he just met on the train ride in. As the evening unfolds, relationships quickly spiral out of control.
